Probably the best answer to that would be the statement that can be found on Wikipedia.
Industry 4.0, or the fourth industrial revolution, is the current trend of automation and data exchange in manufacturing technologies.
It includes cyber-physical systems, the Internet of things and cloud computing.
Industry 4.0 creates what has been called a "smart factory". Within the modular structured smart factories, cyber-physical systems monitor physical processes, create a virtual copy of the physical world and make decentralized decisions.
Over the Internet of Things, cyber-physical systems communicate and cooperate with each other and with humans in real time, and via the Internet of Services, both internal and cross-organizational services are offered and used by participants of the value chain.
In short terms, this actually means that Machines are getting more "intelligent". They are always connected, they never sleep and they would soon be able to learn from each other. Much faster than humans do. Taking this as a benefit for the Industry this provides enormous potential for everything we produce.
However, on the other hand, a machine controlled by software will most likely never what so ever feel empathy or value of relationships. So in long terms this could mean that machines, controlled by intelligent software, can take over the world as predicted long time ago with a movie by James Cameron. However, at this point in time we think about the good impact this could bring to humanity!
